It had been a day since Alfie had arrived at this school and he didn't like it one bit. It was wrong. Everything about it was wrong and he needed to escape from here but who could he trust? He couldn't tell anyone about his plans. He needed a solid way of getting away from here and that required careful planning. It wasn't one of his strong points but where escape was concerned the boy would do anything he had to in order to get it done.
So here he was, waiting until midnight before sneaking out of his room with pj bottoms and a robe with a plain white t-shirt underneath. He had no shoes on because sneaking was easier with he weren't making loud clumsy stomping sounds with your feet.
He got as far as the office before searching and rummaging through the desk and drawers at reception. There was bound to be information on what they were doing here and the truth behind why they brought him here in the first place. Because surely it wasnt just a school! Something was going on and he would figure it out or just run the hell away.
He found nothing at the desk except silly notes and boring paperwork so Alfie quickly moved on to the door to one of the offices, presumably where they kept all the files. It was locked of course but then he had expected and planned for that. He pulled out his lock picking kit and started work on it.
He'd find answers or a way out eventually. It was just a matter of time and Alfie was sure he could get it done! His mother would never send him away like this. Surely they lied to her, told her this place would help him when really it was some secret facility where they experimented on the kids or lobotomise them or whatever!

hope's life had been going pretty great, possibly the best it's been since she arrived at hawthorne. she had her amazing friends and boyfriend by her side, to make sure she didn't do anything stupid again. just months ago, hope was the girl to tick off the most dangerous people in the school. it landed her in the hospital many times, once close to death. then on halloween, a lot of bad things happened for the girl and she tried to commit suicide. she was really glad that it failed in the long run, because she wouldn't be where she was now. she wasn't even close to ready to leave hawthorne, but she knew she was going to be what hawthorne would call a success story, even though her help had nothing to do with their 'therapy sessions' or medicine that they put her on.
though she was feeling much better, she still had nightmares about the things that have happened to her. she would often wake up to find her cheeks wet with tears and herself short of breath. tonight was one of those nights. grabbing her phone and key, she tip-toed out of her room and walked down the hallway. her brown eyes darted around every once in a while to make sure she wouldn't be caught. she had then made her way to the front of the school, where the main office was located. obviously, she wasn't the only one that couldn't sleep. it was a boy she hadn't seen before, and she was a curious girl. so when he started going through things, she stayed out of sight for a bit. she didn't know of anyone stupid enough to go through the office things. so, what the hell was he up to?
when got out that kit, she walked over to him, but she was still a distance away from him. she wasn't stupid enough to just walk right up to him. she crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow, watching him for a moment. she then rolled her eyes at his stupidity. did he think he would leave the school unguarded, or without cameras? finally, she spoke up, "you're going to get into trouble, you know," she said, in a casual tone. she knew most of the people that walked the halls of hawthorne, so this boy had to be new, "why are you trying to break into the office?"

Alfie was just so distracted with trying to jiggle the lock open that the sounds of it covered the sounds of footsteps. Usually that would be disconcerting once he heard it and he would go hide or something but the guy honestly hadn't heard the impending approach. All he heard were the sounds of freedom and answers on the other side of the door.
It was really two goals all wrapped up in one neat little mission. One, find out what the hell this place really is and two, get the fuck out real fast. He knew mental institutions were bad, they were really bad but this place.. It was worse! It was parading itself as an innocent little school for 'troubled' teens when really it was the worst kind of instituion. they probably made the walls so thick so that the people in the neighbourhood couldn't hear the children's screams.
It was all pretty horrifying to him and in his head it all made sense but obviously Alfie's perceptions were a little skewed. He didn't see things the way other people did. He saw them differently and often felt the urge to fight against it like he was doing right now. Though sometimes it got the better of him.
He finally got the lock open and grinned hearing the click but his eyes widened with shock when he heard a voice. He whirled around with the speed of that dramatic chipmunk on youtube. "Who sent you?" he asked holding out the little tool he had been using to pick the lock as though it were a weapon to threaten her with. "No, doesn't matter," he said. "Just go away and if you tell anyone.. You'll regret it!" he warned her with a stern and crazed look that could scare his own mother half the time. Unfortunately, despite the actual seriousness of his threat, his little weapon was only a metal paperclip that had been bent out of shape in order to pic the lock.. But then maybe he had other things he could use, or maybe he didn't need weapons at all.

hope couldn't help but let out a laugh as the boy whirled around so fast and asked such a ridiculous question. who sent her? really? wow, this boy really was new if he didn't know her, or heard of her. she was known as the crazy girl that egged on psychos, after all. so when he held out that picking tool, she just rose her eyebrow again. she didn't even show any signs of fear, probably because this place had sucked it out of her now, "my mom sent me here so i can get better like all the little boys and girls," she said, giving a little sarcastic grin at the end. don't ask stupid questions and you won't get an answer like that from her. usually, when meeting a new person, she would be incredibly kind. she probably will be to him, but she couldn't help but answer in such a sarcastic tone, "no one sent me. i'm just a student here." she put her hands up as a sign of 'surrender.'
the threat almost erupted another laugh from her, but she held it back. she wasn't going to leave just because some skinny boy told her to. although her mind was telling her to go, he could be like the others.. she doubted it. she took another step forward and shook her head, "i can't sleep, so i might as well stay," she said, shrugging her shoulders a bit. she stayed quiet for a moment, looking him over. he didn't seem like much of a threat, but never judge a book by its cover. just because he didn't look like a threat, didn't mean he couldn't kick her anorexic ass, "you're new, aren't you?" she asked, moving and sitting on the reception desk. she had a thoughtful look on her face as she asked this question.
"how about instead of breaking into the office and risking isolation, you just ask me what you want to know? i've been here a long time. for a whole year.. i know a ton about this place," she said, crossing her legs. she didn't lie about the school, so he would always get a honest answer.. but that crazed look he had in his eyes when he told her to leave and then threatened her made her wary about him. it's why she was keeping her distance from him at the moment, but she was too much of a curious girl to leave. besides, this could turn out interesting.

She was laughing and it was a siniter and evil laugh. Clearly she knew something that he did not and he had to now it too cause it could be important. his thoughts grew a little dangerous for a moment but still, he managed to stay as calm as was humanly possible.. For him at least.
"That's a lie," he said but he didn't sound like he was accusing her of anything, it was more like it was stating it, in case she didn't know. He didn't trust anything in this place, not even the peopel in it. All the staff had to be in on it and the students here just didn't know what they were involved in and of course some of them could even be spies and maybe she was one of them. Yeah, he couldn't trust her. He pushed the handle down on the door behind him and took half a step back kind of testing to see if she would run off and call for help.
"you're.. you're not going to tell them?" he asked but still kept that seriousness about him. He wasn't going to trust her or anyone but if she wasn't going to go tell security then that would buy him more time.. "I'm not telling you anything!" he insisted when she asked if he was new. it was kind of obvious anyway but Alfie just didn't like giving much away.
"I don't trust you," he told her. She could tell him a bunch of lies. He pushed the door open a little, showing that he had already broken into it but he kept his eyes on her, still not trusting her to keep her mouth shut about it. Who was she anyway? Just some girl who was probably woring for them.

this boy was definitely different from what she was used to. sure, there was all sorts of people in hawthorne, each with their own problem.. but she hadn't met someone that was so cautious and.. paranoid, it seemed? so, she watched him with a curious look on her face. what did he think she was here to do? couldn't he tell that she was harmless? he was looking at a stick thin girl, with nothing but scars showing on her body. as she thought of her scars all over her body, she she crossed her arms again, trying to hide some of them. goodness, she had so many, she wished she could hide, "that's a lie? no, i'm pretty sure i'm hope, student here at hawthorne academy, level two with a mood disorder. what do you think i am?" she asked, tilting her head to the side slightly. yeah, she told him her name, and why she was here, but without revealing her real problems. she never told people what kind of mood disorder, or that she was recovering from anorexia.
"tell who? security? no. i don't like the security here," she said, shaking her head. she didn't trust them, only jasper and tanner. it seemed like they didn't try, and if they did, then people like marcus knew how to avoid them as they did their deeds. she could tell him why she didn't like them, but she didn't bother with it. if he was so adament on finding out about this school, he could easily ask questions. she would answer, she already told him that. she let out a quiet laugh again when he wouldn't answer her question, "i already know you are. it's pretty obvious. only a new kid would try and break into the office, without realizing the cameras would catch them," she said, pointing up to the camera, "if you don't go inside, you might be able to escape isolation. from what i've heard, isolation sucks."
she just smiled at him and nodded her head. she wouldn't trust a random girl in a school for the fucked up, either. so she didn't take offense to it. atleast he was cautious enough, so he might be able to make it around here without getting completely fucked up, "i don't blame you. you'd be pretty fucking stupid to trust a random girl in a school for the fucked up," she said, bluntly. she wasn't going to lie to him. he didn't have to trust her, she just wanted to help him out. if someone had warned her about the people in this school, then maybe her body wouldn't be covered with so many scars. and she wouldn't be constantly reminded of the things that happened to her within these walls.

It was a little dark with only dim lights so Hope's scars went unnoticed by him. He was more concerned about the potential harm she could do. He didn't need her intefering in his plans and it seemed like that was exactly what she was there to do. He wouldn't let her get in his way though. Alfie was too far gone and too far lost in his paranoid little world to even think clearly about it.
"I don't know who or what you are just stay the fuck away from me!" he told her, getting quite annoyed because he didn't want to have to play her stupid mind games. He was so sure he knew what was going on here and he didn't like any of it.
Alfie just looked her over when she said she didn't like security, well that could be believable but still he didn't want to trust anyone. Things always went wrong when he did. Alfie was sometimes aware of how crazy his paranoia could get but most of the time he didn't see the insanity in it at all.
"FUCK!" he said when she mentioned the camera. Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Why didn't he think of that? He glanced up nervously for a sec before pulling the hood over his head but it was too late now, they had seen him. So it was best if he just got in and out as quickly as possible then found some place to hide.
"Fuck isolation! They're not going to find me! I'm getting out of her," he said, he didn't care. He'd just hide some where for a while. There were always places they wouldn't look. He'd find one.
"Keep watch!" he told her but that didn't mean he trusted her or anythign. He went into the room real quick, having been in there before for that interview. He saw the drawers were the files were kept and went striaght for it but they were locked.

"and what are you going to do if i don't 'stay the fuck away from you?' not that i'm planning on even coming remotely close to you. i'm not that stupid anymore," she said, kind of enjoying how annoyed he was getting. she let out a sigh and pushed some hair behind her ear. never had anyone spoken to her like this in a long time. actually, the only people that ever talked to her like he was had a good reason, but he didn't, "so, what's your deal? why are you so on edge?" she asked, wanting to know more about him. but hell, she didn't even know his name. oh well, this was better than going back to sleep and having nightmares again.
hope laughed a little bit again as he started to freak out about the camera. anyone with common sense would have known that. they wouldn't let people with problems just walk around without being monitored. sure, hawthorne didn't have the best security.. but they still had to go around and act like they did, "oh, don't hide your face now! it's too late, they've already seen you and your gorgeous face," she said, smiling a little over at him.
"i can tell you, the only way you're getting out of here is if you blow half of the place up. that's how my friend, adrian, did it.. but it didn't last long. he's back," she said, thinking back on that. that was a crazy night. and each time she thought if it, all she could think of was 'poor guard. .' he didn't stand a chance against amanda and her knife. . "besides, you just got here. what could have possibly happened that you want to leave already?" she was asking quite a few questions, but that's just how she was. she was a nosy girl.
hope nodded her head and bit down on her lip, "okay then. . ." she said, looking around. she doubted anyone would come to take them away, anyway, "what are you planning on finding?" she called out to him, trying to figure him out. why was he trying so hard to leave, that he would risk isolation? she was sure that he would bonkers in isolation if he ever had to go.

"If you're not gonna get any close than what's it matter?" He aksed and it made sense. She didn't need to know what would happen if she wasn't ever going to do it. It wasn't important cause she wouldn't have to deal with the consequences. Things were a lot simpler that way.
"I'm not and it's none of your business," he said. He was perfectly fine. It was everyone else that was the problem. They were the ones that were always trying to do stuff against him. There was always something going on.
Common sense was something he had but tended to forget about when he got this way. there were just too many things on his mind for him to think about that kind of stuff. He was too busy trying to figure things out and not trusting people that the basics just slipped his mind.
Alfie just glared at her, he had his hood up so whether she could see it or not was a whole other thing. He didn't appreciate what she was saying. He already knew that now but he didn't need a constant reminded cause then it was just more problems to deal with.
"Adrian?" he repeated, taking note of the name. Could be useful to know someone who could get their hands on explosive. He'd had to keep an eye out for that guy. He wasn't going to blow the place up though.. Unless he absolutely had to.
"Nothing has to happen for me to want to leave," he told her. "Don't you see what they're doing here?" he asked as if it should be obvious to her. "They're taking away free will. You can't just decide to leave you have to find your own way out and that's exactly what I plan to do," he told her.
"Why do you need to know?" he aksed when she asked him what he was looking for. He managed to pry the draw open and looked for his file. He grabbed it and opened it. It seemed to have some pretty basic standard information and then something else. A report.. They had written stuff about him. Alfie glared at the paper then ripped it up and put the rest of the file back before shutting the drawer and checking the computer but it wasn't logged in so he wouldn't find much there. He looked for anything else he could find and managed to grab a couple pieces of paper, folding it, he shoved the whole lot into his pocket as he walked back out.
