California is slightly depressed, and so she may not seem appealing to most when you see her from across the courtyard. If you actually meet her, though, she is a sweet, generous girl that would do anything to help another person out or to have a friend. Ever since her brother died, she has been longing for a place where she can belong, but that's hard for her to do considering how shy she is. Normally, she sticks to being alone which she absolutely hates. If you can get her to stop thinking about her brother for awhile, she is very fun-loving and happy-go-lucky.

»BITTERSWEET HISTORY•
California was born in London, England. She went to school with her brother, Alexander, and lived a fairly normal life. She was a happy, young child, and she enjoyed her life. Her brother and she along with their parents lived in a little cottage out in the woods a little ways, and Cali and Alex loved every bit of it. Every day when they got home from school, they would go on an adventure through the woods. One day, they finally found a place where they could just relax: a meadow full of many beautiful flowers and a small pond. They started going to the pond every day after school, and they were the only ones who knew about it. It was the perfect life.

And then one day, their parents died. Though it was a sad day, the children had rarely ever seen their parents due to the couple's long stays in other countries, so the siblings hardly cried. Who they considered their mother was their nannie, Patience, who took care of them when their parents weren't around. Both of the children felt a small pain inside their hearts for the loss of their parents, but it wasn't too great. Until the day, when California was fourteen, that her brother died. Alex had been driving home from a late party, and California sat in the passenger's seat. They were turning onto a road, and someone wasn't paying attention and hit them. The driver's side was the only side hit, and it killed Alexander almost instantly. After that day, Cali fell into depression, and at last, Patience sent her to Hawthorne Academy, hoping that the young girl could be helped in some way.
